How Our Instagram Thumbnail Downloader Works
This free Instagram thumbnail downloader lets you grab the cover image (thumbnail) of any public Instagram reel or video in full quality. Copy the reel or video link, paste it above and save the thumbnail — no app, no login and no watermark.
It is handy for creators checking a cover, or for saving the poster frame of a reel. It works right in your browser on Android, iPhone and desktop.
Grab the cover image of any reel or video
Every Instagram reel and video has a thumbnail — the still frame shown before it plays. Creators use it as a cover; viewers sometimes want it as a poster image. This page pulls that thumbnail in full quality without you having to download the whole video and screenshot a frame.
Why the thumbnail matters
For creators, checking a competitor's cover or saving your own is useful for design and consistency. For everyone else, the thumbnail is often a clean, high-resolution image in its own right.
Thumbnail plus the full clip
If you decide you want the moving version too, the Instagram and Instagram Reels downloaders save the complete video in HD. This page focuses on just the cover image for when that is all you need.
