Where Do Downloaded Instagram Reels Go on Your Phone?

You downloaded an Instagram Reel and now it seems to have vanished. Don't worry — it is saved on your phone; you just need to know where to look. On most phones a downloaded Reel goes straight into your Gallery / Photos app, and this guide shows exactly where on both iPhone and Android.

On iPhone
A Reel you download lands in the Photos app, in your main Camera Roll (Recents). If you saved it through the Safari browser, it may first appear in Files → Downloads; from there you can tap Share → Save Video to move it into Photos.
On Android
Downloaded Reels are usually stored in the Gallery app, often under a folder called Download, Movies, or Pictures. You can also open the Files (or "My Files") app and check the Download folder to find the MP4.
Saved through the Instagram app vs a downloader
Tapping "Save" inside Instagram only bookmarks the Reel to your private collection inside the app — it does not put a video file on your phone. To get an actual MP4 in your gallery, you need to download the file, for example by pasting the Reel link into a downloader.
